Welcome to TeenStreet UK, we hope you enjoy learning more about how you can connect with TeenStreet to grow and deepen your faith in Jesus and build lasting friendships with other teens across the UK and beyond.

Before we send you any information you have requested about TeenStreet UK, we must tell you about how we deal with your personal information.

This will include, for example, your name and email address. If you are under 18  years of age, if possible, we would like to tell your parent or guardian that you are talking to TeenStreet UK about our year-round events and summer camp.

This will help us to serve you and send you the information you request from us.  If you would like to learn more, you’ll need to read our full privacy policy to learn more about the way we collect and use your data. There is a link at the end of this document. We have summarised the important bits are below.

Protecting your information

The law states we must protect your information and not share it with anyone we haven’t mentioned. We can also only keep your information for as long as we need it, and as long as you’re happy for us to contact you about TeenStreet UK.

TeenStreet UK, is part of OM in the UK, they act as a Data Controller and is responsible for your personal information when we collect it. We make sure we abide by the laws that ensure data is processed fairly, lawfully and with accountability.

We have appointed a Data Protection Officer who oversees the processing of your data to make sure we get it right. You can contact that person directly on dataprotection.uk@om.org

Why we need your information

Here are the reasons why we process your data –

  1. To tell you about TeenStreet UK events, summer camp and anything else we are doing. You provide this information to us through our contact cards, our online form or by getting in touch with us directly.
  2. If you would like to attend one of our events then we will need your parents to sign you up so that we know they are happy for you to attend. We gather essential information about you to be able to care for you during the event you attend. The information we gather may include medical details and dietary requirements. The amount of data we gather will depend on the length of the event and whether there is an overnight stay involved.
  3. When attending our week-long summer camp, we send basic information to your small group leader ahead of the week to help them to care for you well. This information includes your first name, age, whether you are a first-timer or returning teen; and any basic medical or dietary information that your small group leader ought to have. All our small group leaders go through rigorous checks ahead of attending TeenStreet UK and leading a small group. We require two character references per adult, as well as expecting completion of OM and TeenStreet UK specific safeguarding training, TeenStreet UK training on leading a small group and all aspects of TeenStreet UK. Every adult leading a small group is also required to have an enhanced DBS check in place ahead of the event.
  4. In the unlikely event that a safeguarding issue arises during a TeenStreet UK event, we may need to use your data confidentially to respond, in accordance with our safeguarding policies.

We do not use your data for any other reason. If we send you information by email, we will do so with your agreement (consent). We will never send you any information by post.

We do not transfer your data outside of the European Economic Area and we have no plans to do so in the future. It is kept very safely in the UK.

We only collect the data we require. This will include your name, postal address, Church attending and email address.

We only keep your data for as long as necessary and regularly review this. We have clear guidelines on this important aspect of your personal information. If you ever decide you don’t want us to keep your data, we will delete it straightaway – just let us know.

For those under the age of 18 we require parental consent for you to attend any of our events. We seek parent consent for a number of things: –

  • For you to attend the event itself and take part in the activities
  • For the summer event – for you to take part in local outreach offsite
  • For you to be treated by a First Aider in the event that you become unwell or are hurt
  • For you to be in pictures and videos that may be posted online or in printed documents.
  • For your parents’ basic information to be stored so we can let them know about future TeenStreet UK events

Your legal rights

You have several really important rights under the law. You can ask us to update your data, for example if you move home. You can ask us to stop processing your data, and you can ask for a copy of the data we may hold on you. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Please contact us on 01691 773388 if you wish to action any of your rights, or if you have any concerns about anything whatsoever, it would be good to hear from you!

If you feel there is something wrong you can report us to the Information Commissioner, who regulates data protection. You can call them on 0303 123 1113 or go online to www.ico.org.uk/concerns.

If you are based outside the UK, you have the right to complain to the relevant data protection regulator in your country.
